Ceremony Coffee Nominated for Awwwards Ecommerce of the Year

We’re thrilled to share that our recent work for Ceremony Coffee Roasters was 1 of only 36 sites nominated for Awwwards’ Ecommerce of the Year. And, it was 1 of only 5 from the US. While we didn’t take home the trophy, it’s great to see our work recognized among the industry leaders.

When we began work on the Ceremony site, we set out to accomplish a few important goals.

First, we wanted to break convention in the coffee category and focus on imagery of familiar flavors to help customers relate to new coffees. So instead of seeing pictures of bags or beans, users see chocolate, raspberries or lemon based on the specific tasting notes of each coffee.

Next, we wanted to offer a totally new way for customers to explore coffees. To achieve this, we created the Taste by Color interactive experience. Using a canvas-driven particle drawing interaction, people learn to think about coffee in terms of colors instead of tasting notes.

Finally, the site required the editorial capabilities of WordPress and the ecommerce backbone of Shopify. We were able to build a seamless experience between these two platforms that is imperceptible to users and provides Ceremony Coffee Roasters with all the functionality they need to grow their business.

We couldn’t have done this without our amazing clients at Ceremony. We’re looking forward to helping them continue to push the brand forward and expand their reach through the Mid-Atlantic.
